I About Dave Connolly – The Manic Photographer
Unfortunately, I left teenage love for photography for 12 years after “advice” to get a real job whilst at school. Returned to Photography thanks to a gift of a DSLR 8 years ago from my long-suffering wife, and the love affair took off again. I spend my time shooting landscapes and astrophotography, and just the odd image of my two beautiful kids.
Five years ago four friends and I set up Skellig Star Party, and astronomy event in the glorious Dark Sky Reserve in Ballinskelligs Co Kerry. Some of the images I have taken at this event have been used for a national and international media campaign.
Sponsorship & Endorsements
In 2017 I was approached to become a voluntary brand ambassador for Sigma Lenses, and more recently Manfrotto have asked me to review their kit.
Onwards & Upwards
My photography has taken me all over the world, from Kerry to Mijas and from Marrakech to Kerala. I’m am indebted to the Dublin Photography School for bringing me out of my shell and helping me find and refine my art. Its been a great journey and I hope to travel with them again soon.
My Two Cents
I give talks to Photography and Astronomy clubs and societies on a voluntary basis, and although I have connections to several kit manufacturers all opinions are my own and fully independent. Im always happy to give advice on kit, locations and settings. All my work is voluntary, and im happy to give my time for travel costs.
